Sun Country Now Allows Specific Portable Oxygen Concentrators
St. Paul, MN - March 14, 2006 Sun Country Airlines is proud to announce that it now accepts specific Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC’s) onboard all flights. POC’s allow people suffering from a variety of heart, lung and other respiratory diseases to be more active and mobile. Sun Country’s policy change is a result of recently issued FAA guidelines allowing the use of certain POC’s onboard aircraft. “We’re very pleased with the new FAA policies with regard to Portable Oxygen Containers. Passengers with special needs have always been a priority for Sun Country, and the new guidelines allow us to serve them better,” said Tony Loeks, Director of Safety and Security for Sun Country. POC’s are devises that filter nitrogen from the surrounding air, delivering pure oxygen to the user. Two POC’s, the AirSep Lifestyle and the Inogen One, have been approved by the FAA for inflight use. To travel with a POC, passengers must notify Sun Country Reservations of their intended use. Passengers must also follow specific guidelines, including providing appropriate medical documentation, to travel with their POC. Complete guidelines available on Sun Country’s website, www.suncountry.com. Sun Country Airlines is a low cost, low fare carrier based in St. Paul, MN. Sun Country, a privately held company, is following a conservative growth plan which will increase the frequency to its popular destinations such as Phoenix, Dallas, Los Angeles, Orlando, Ft. Myers, Denver and Las Vegas. For a complete list of destinations and more information, please visit Sun Country's website at www.suncountry.com.
