As the Hometown Airline, Sun Country is proud to support the Minnesota Music scene and feature local musicians in our entertainment program. Since the beginning of our program in March of 2008, we have featured over 30 gifted musicians in all genres of music through our inflight audio. Owl City has become an international phenomenon over the past year with the release of his now platinum album Ocean Eyes (Universal Republic July 2009), #1 single “Fireflies” (now triple platinum) and several sold out headlining tours of the US, Europe, UK and Asia. “Fireflies” is now an international hit having made it to the #1 spot in 22 countries.
Put equal parts Cash, Eagles and Zeppelin on ice, shake vigorously, and pour into 3 - part harmony glass, and you’ve just made yourself a North Country cocktail, courtesy of Rocket Club. Chock full of big guitar hooks, rich vocal harmonies and good old fashioned American storytelling, this band is setting out to create a whole new blend of music.
Things are flying high in the wake of Keri Noble's self-titled release on Telarc records, which debuted in the top 20 iTunes Pop Chart. Within the first two months of 2009 her song ‘Emily’ was used in Grey’s Anatomy, she made her first national television appearance on “CBS Saturday Early Show”, and discovered that one of her songs would be recorded on Kelly Clarkson's latest CD, All I Ever Wanted.
Trampled by Turtles
With four self-released albums MN's Trampled by Turtles released Palomino, their first album through Thirty Tigers/RED, on April 13th, 2010. With a sound that’s a bracing hybrid of classic American songwriting, bluegrass and folk, this is forceful acoustic music from the land of ice and snow – delivered at breakneck pace with the fervor of religion.
Alison Scott is the most exciting new voice in the Minnesota music scene and her brand of pure untamed soul is starting to make a very big noise. Working with triple platinum guitarist/producer Kevin Bowe (Jonny Lang, Paul Westerberg, Etta James) Alison and her band have sold out the Dakota Jazz Club on each of their six shows there, selling over 6000 CD's in the process.
Rogue Valley is the new musical project of critically acclaimed Twin Cities songwriter Chris Koza. Comprised of bassist/vocalist Linnea Mohn, drummer Luke Anderson, guitarist/vocalist Peter Sieve, and Koza, the quartet's sound is identified by their organic textures, lush vocal harmonies, and dynamic performances.
In 1998 Stephen was named to the Distinguished Roster of International Steinway Piano Artists and his music began radio airplay across the US in 1999. With over one quarter million albums sold, Stephen is working on his 11th album and plans on performing with symphony orchestras in the upcoming years.
Teddy Bear Band
Upon Teddy Bear Band's 25th Anniversary it's receiving consideration from the Smithsonian Institute and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while a new concert DVD is being showered with recognition by child development experts and parents earning additional national acclaim with a Mom’s Choice Award, not to mention they were celebrated as a “Minnesota family treasure.
