When you purchase an airline ticket on Sun Country Airlines®, you can protect your travel investment with the UFlex change fee protection plan. With UFlex, you can change the time, date, destination, and even the name on your reservation without paying the $100 (domestic) or $150 (international) change fee! And, since UFlex covers up to 3 change fees, it can save you up to $450! The FAQs for UFlex are listed below. UFlex protection purchased within 24 hours of outbound flight for round-trip itineraries can only be applied to return flight. The following FAQs refer to only the flight-only UFlex plan.

1. What is UFlex?

UFlex is a change fee protection product available from Sun Country Airlines. Passengers who purchase UFlex with their flight reservation are able to make up to 3 changes to their reservation without paying the $100 (domestic) or $150 (international change fees. Passengers who have purchased UFlex are responsible for paying the difference between the fare in their original reservation and the fare available at the time of change. A change is defined as 1of the following events:

  • Changing the time, date and/or the destination of a reservation
  • Changing a name on a reservation

2. What kind of changes can I use UFlex for?

UFlex can be used for time, date, destination, or name changes.

3. What is the difference between UFlex and travel insurance?

UFlex is a change fee protection product that protects passengers from up to 3 change fees should they decide to make changes to their reservation, whereas travel insurance protects passengers from costs associated with trip cancellation, interruptions, or delays; delayed, damaged or lost bags; medical expenses during the trip; and other trip-related items.

4. Does Sun Country offer travel insurance?

Yes. For flight-only reservations, travel insurance is available from Travel Guard. Get more information or call Travel Guard at 1-888-202-5928.

5. Why would I need UFlex?

UFlex is a great product for passengers whose plans may change and who want to avoid paying change fees. UFlex is also great when traveling with friends or family should the plans of others impact flight reservations.

6. How and where do I buy UFlex?

Passengers can purchase UFlex when making their flight reservation online with Sun Country Airlines or by calling Sun Country Reservations toll-free at 1-800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737 for Minneapolis/St. Paul local calls (Mon-Sun, 5am-Midnight Central Time).
UFlex protection purchased within 24 hours of outbound flight for round-trip itineraries can only be applied to return flight.

7. When can I buy UFlex?

UFlex must be purchased in conjunction with a flight at time of ticketing only.

8. Can I buy UFlex for a reservation I already made?

No, UFlex cannot be applied to an existing reservation. UFlex can only be purchased when purchasing a flight and only covers the flight it was purchased with.

9. How much does UFlex cost?

UFlex is $30 per passenger, per reservation for domestic and international, one-way or round-trip.

10. I'm traveling with more than one person. Does everyone on my reservation need to buy UFlex?

Yes, UFlex must be purchased for every passenger on a flight reservation.

11. What does UFlex cover?

UFlex covers up to 3 time, date, destination, and name changes to a flight reservation. Without UFlex, these changes would incur change fees of $100 (domestic) and $150 (international) each; with UFlex, these change fees are waived. Passengers who have purchased UFlex are responsible for paying the difference between the fare in their original reservation and the fare available at the time of change. A change is defined as one of the following events:

  • Changing the time, date and/or the destination of a reservation
  • Changing a name on a reservation

12. How do I make changes to my reservation with UFlex?

Changes can only be made through Sun Country Reservations toll-free at 1-800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737 for Minneapolis/St. Paul local calls (Mon-Sun, 5am-Midnight Central Time). Changes cannot be made online or at airport ticket counters. For bookings made through a travel agency, please contact your travel agent regarding changes.

13. When can I make a change to my reservation with UFlex?

Changes can be made up to 24 hours prior to the original flight time. If it is less than 24 hours prior to a passenger’s outbound flight time, a change can still be made to the passenger’s return flight as long as they are made more than 24 hours prior to the return flight time. Changes can be made within 24 hours of flight time but normal change fees will apply.
UFlex protection purchased within 24 hours of outbound flight for round-trip itineraries can only be applied to return flight as long as the return flight time is more than 24 hours in the future.

14. How many changes can I make with UFlex?

Passengers who purchased UFlex can make up to 3 changes to their flight reservation without incurring a change fee. Additional changes can be made at standard change fee rates. A change is defined as one of the following events:

  • Changing the time, date and/or the destination of a reservation
  • Changing a name on a reservation

15. What if the fare of my new reservation is different than the fare of my original reservation?

Passengers who purchased UFlex are responsible for paying the difference between the fare in their original reservation and the fare available at the time of change. If the fare of the new reservation is higher than the fare of the original reservation, the passenger will be charged the difference. If the fare of the new reservation is lower than the fare of the original reservation, the difference will not be refunded.

16. What if I don't know the dates, destination, or name I would like to change my reservation to?

To take advantage of UFlex, the new information must be known at the time of making a change. As with standard Sun Country Airline ticket policies, unused tickets are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase and can be held without knowing the new information; however, standard change fees apply to unused tickets for both UFlex and non-UFlex purchases of coach class tickets.

17. I missed my flight. Does UFlex cover changing my flight?

No; UFlex only covers changes made more than 24 hours prior to flight departure.

18. I'd like to change my reservation, but the other passenger(s) on my reservation want to keep the same flight. Does UFlex cover this?

Yes, passengers who purchased UFlex can change the time, date, destination, or name on their ticket while the other passengers on their reservation keep the same time, date, destination, and names.

19. Is UFlex refundable?

No, UFlex is not refundable.

20. I didn't make changes to the reservation I purchased UFlex with. Can I apply UFlex to another reservation with Sun Country Airlines?

No, UFlex only covers the reservation for which it was purchased.

21. Can I purchase UFlex when booking an award flight with my Ufly® Rewards points?

No, UFlex cannot be purchased with a Ufly award flight.

22. Can I purchase UFlex when booking a Sun Country Vacations flight and hotel package?

Yes, but it is a different plan with enhanced coverage. Prior to departure the UFlex Vacation Protection Plan allows you to cancel for any reason with no penalty and make up to 3 changes to your vacation with no change fees. 23. Can I purchase UFlex with a first- class ticket?

No, UFlex cannot be purchased with a first-class ticket as change fees do not apply to first-class ticket holders.

24. Do I need to purchase UFlex for the lap-held infant I am traveling with?

No, UFlex does not need to be purchased for a lap-held infant as lap-held infants do not have a paid reservation subject to change fees.

25. I have/am part of a group reservation. Can I purchase UFlex?

No, UFlex cannot be purchased with group reservations.
