Check-in

Sun Country Airlines makes it easy to get your trip underway, whether you check in online or at the airport.

Online Check-in
Passengers holding electronic tickets for domestic travel to or from selected cities are welcome to check in online by clicking here. You may check in for your flight no more than 24-hours prior to, and up to
1 hour before your scheduled departure time with the exception of two hours for Harlingen, Miami, Boston and San Francisco. Passengers with infants, unaccompanied minors, and groups larger than 10 are not able to check-in online.

Identification

  • For domestic travel, customers over the age of 18 years must show a valid federal or state government issued photo identification, (valid driver's license, valid passport, or a valid military identification card) at the ticket counter and at the security checkpoint.
  • Effective October 1, 2007, all adults, minors and infants traveling to London, Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic or St. Maarten must have a valid passport. The temporary accommodation for US citizens who had applied for but not yet received a passport due to longer than anticipated passport processing times ended on September 30, 2007.   • Tickets purchased within 48 hours of travel may require the purchasing card holder to present the purchasing credit card and government issued photo identification for verification at the airport during check-in.
    Please note: The purchaser may need to find alternate ticketing arrangements (i.e. travel agency) if unable present themselves at the departing airport at the time of check-in.

Things to remember:

  • You may only check in for domestic flights online - to check in for international flights please see a Sun Country agent at the ticket counter at the airport
  • Passengers traveling with infants may not check in online - you must check in at the airport
  • Customers with paper tickets must see a ticket counter agent and may not check in online

Checking luggage?
You may use online check-in even if you have luggage. As long as you have the boarding pass you printed during the online check-in process you may check your luggage with a skycap curbside (where available). For your convenience you may also check your luggage with an agent at the ticket counter. You can also save time with the convenience of pre-paying for your checked baggage online. To pre-pay for your checked baggage, please click here. Pre-paying for checked baggage is available up to 24 hours prior to flight departure.

No luggage to check?
If you check-in online and are not checking any luggage, you may proceed directly to the gate upon arrival at the terminal. Please have the boarding pass you printed during the online check-in process and appropriate identification in-hand for the security checkpoint. If you are checking luggage, please see a skycap at curbside (where available) or a Sun Country ticket agent at the counter.

Lost boarding pass
If you lose the boarding pass you printed during the online check-in process, simply see a Sun Country agent at the ticket counter and he or she will reprint one for you after confirming your identity and flight information.

Missed flight
If you check in online (to include printing your boarding pass) but can't make your flight, you must contact Sun Country Airlines toll-free at 1-800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737 for Minneapolis/St. Paul local calls (Mon-Sun, 5am-Midnight Central Time), prior to flight departure to retain the value of your ticket. All applicable fees and penalties will be applied to changes.

Printing problems
If you were unable to print your boarding pass from your home or office printer, please see a Sun Country agent at the ticket counter for assistance.

Airport Check-in
When traveling on Sun Country flights please remember to check-in as early as possible for your flight. Flights are available for in-person check-in 2 hours prior to departure at all designated Sun Country locations.

On the day of travel, all passengers must be checked in either at the airport ticket counter, kiosk or through the Sun Country Airlines website and be available for passenger boarding at the departure gate at least (30) minutes Domestic flights) or (60) minutes (International flights) prior to scheduled departure. Failure to do so will subject the reservation(s) to be cancelled.

All Sun Country ticket locations (except London Gatwick*) will be closed for check-in forty-five (:45) minutes prior to the scheduled departure flight. It is the passenger’s responsibility to arrive at the airport with proper identification in adequate time to allow for check-in requirements and security processing. London Gatwick closes 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Domestic flights
Sun Country Airlines recommends passengers arrive at the airport ticket counter ninety (90) minutes prior to scheduled departure in Minneapolis/St. Paul (Terminal 2) and one hundred twenty (120) minutes prior to scheduled departure at all out-stations ticket counters.

International flights
Passengers traveling to and from Mexico and the Caribbean are recommended to arrive at the airport 120 minutes before their scheduled departure. For travel to Europe, passengers are recommended to arrive at the airport 180 minutes before their scheduled departure.

Lost ticket
If you lose your ticket please see a Sun Country agent at the ticket counter.

Missed flight
If you can't make your flight, please contact Sun Country Airlines toll-free at 1-800-359-6786 or 651-905-2737 for Minneapolis/St. Paul local calls (Mon-Sun, 5am-Midnight Central Time) prior to flight departure to retain the value of your ticket. Tips for an On-time Departure

  • Know how long it takes to reach the airport from which you will depart
  • If you drive to the airport, don't forget to plan on extra time for parking
  • Allow ample time for check-in, especially if you are checking baggage
  • Ensure all luggage is tagged with clear, legible identification
  • Make sure you have proper identification and leave all prohibited items at home
