Sun Country Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service between Minneapolis and Washington D.C. Reagan Airport


Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – June 10, 2013 – Today, Sun Country Airlines announced new nonstop service between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Washington D.C. Reagan Airport. Six nonstop flights and four trips via Lansing, MI. will operate between the two cities each week.

Minneapolis – Washington D.C. Monday through Friday nonstop flights depart DCA at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in MSP at 1:30 p.m. The return flight Monday through Friday departs MSP at 5:05 p.m. and arrives in DCA at 8:30 p.m. On Sunday the flight departs MSP at 6:45 a.m. and arrives in DCA at 10:10 a.m. The return departs DCA at 10:00 p.m. and arrives in MSP at 11:40 p.m.

Flights via LAN operate Monday, Thursday and Friday, departing MSP at 6:30 a.m., arriving in DCA at 10:55 a.m. On Sunday the flight departs DCA at 11:00 a.m. and arrives in MSP at 1:40 p.m.

Lansing- Washington D.C. Nonstop flights depart LAN Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in DCA at 10:55 a.m. On Sunday the flight departs LAN at 7:30 p.m. and arrives in DCA at 8:55 p.m. The newly timed return flight departs DCA Monday through Friday at 10:00 p.m. and arrives in LAN at 11:30 p.m. On Sundays the flight departs DCA at 11:00 a.m. and arrives in LAN at 12:30 p.m.

Sun Country Airlines Announces New Service to Chicago. Airline will fly twice daily into Midway


Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – March 25, 2013 – Today, Sun Country Airlines announced that they will be flying nonstop into Chicago-Midway from Minneapolis/St. Paul- Terminal 2. Flights will be operating twice daily, making it ideal for business travelers to attend meetings or leisure travelers looking for an enjoyable weekend getaway. The new year-round service will begin July 1, 2013, and is now available to book.

New Nonstop Service to Las Vegas, NV and Puerto Vallarta, MX


Lansing, MI— August 15, 2012—Sun Country Airlines announced today details of their 2013 winter schedule out of the Lansing Capital Region International Airport. Sun Country’s newest additions to the schedule include twice weekly nonstop service to Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning December 27, 2012, as well as weekly nonstop service to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico during the winter season, beginning February 1, 2013.

The airline will also resume nonstop service to popular winter destinations: Cancun, Punta Cana, and Orlando, flying into Orlando’s most convenient airport, Orlando International Airport (MCO).

5 Year Labor Pact With Transport Workers Union Announced


Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – July 19, 2012 – Today, Sun Country Airlines announced that it has negotiated a 5 year extension to the current labor agreement with the Transport Workers Union (TWU), representing the airline’s flight dispatchers. Union members voted unanimously to approve the agreement which will go into effect immediately.

Commenting on the new labor deal, Stan Gadek, president & CEO of Sun Country Airlines said, “We are pleased to have reached this extension with our dispatchers who are a very important part of Sun Country’s success. Sun Country Airlines Signs GE OnPoint Solution Agreement on CFM56-7B Engines


FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW – July 11, 2012 – Sun Country Airlines has signed a 5-year OnPointSM solution agreement with GE Aviation for the overhaul of 28 CFM56-7B engines that power its Boeing 737-700 and -800 aircraft. The OnPoint agreement is valued at more than $60 million (USD) over the life of the agreement.

CFM56-7B engines are a product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and General Electric Company.

Sun Country Airlines Announces 2013 Winter Schedule New Service to Tampa and Huatulco, MX


Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – May 17, 2012 – Today, Sun Country Airlines announced details of their 2013 winter schedule giving customers even more nonstop flights to their favorite destinations. Sun Country customers can now book their travel for the holidays, Spring Break ’13 and more.

In addition, Sun Country will now offer new nonstop seasonal service from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Tampa, FL and Huatulco, MX. The Hometown Airline has also expanded its year round service to include Boston and Seattle.

SunCountry.com Gets Rejuvenated 'Look and Feel'

St. Paul, MN—August 22, 2011— Sun Country Airlines has officially launched its new design for suncountry.com, featuring a streamlined booking flow and newly organized content providing consumers with an enhanced experience when visiting the Hometown Airline’s website.

“We redesigned the website with a fresh look and a more consumer-friendly interface,” said Wendy Blackshaw, Vice President of Marketing & Sales. “Aside from a facelift and providing enhanced functionality, the new website showcases not only our flights but also our Sun Country Vacations packages and cruises,” continued Blackshaw.

At the forefront of the redesign is the site's homepage, which provides a more simplified navigation. Access to all the tools and information customers need is just a click away. The redesigned suncountry.com website continues to feature services important to Sun Country customers, including easy flight booking, vacation packages, and online check-in up to 24 hours prior to flight time. In addition to these standard services, Sun Country’s website now offers a new interactive route map and content on featured destinations, including city tips, hotels, restaurant suggestions, attractions, local events, weather and airport information. Consumers are now also able to conveniently find deals on flights as well as hotel and cruise packages with Sun Country’s new “Deals” page on the website.

Sun Country introduced the new look last week and customer feedback has been positive. Comments on social media outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter, show that customers are excited about the updated home page and like the changes made to the site. The website’s "visual redesign" is just the first in a series of enhancements that will take place over the next 12 to 18 months.

MN Airlines, LLC (Sun Country) announced today that its parent has sold Sun Country to a private company owned by the Davis family of St. Peter, Minnesota, the owners of Cambria Holdings, LLC. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Today is an exciting day for our employees, our customers and the communities we serve,” said Stan Gadek, president and CEO of Sun Country. “We look forward to working with our new owners to continue to expand our services, while maintaining our commitment to providing top notch customer service. As we approach our 30th anniversary as the Twin Cities’ Hometown Airline, we intend to provide our customers with even more domestic and international routes.”

Gadek went on to say, “the acquisition is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our employees during these past few years. I am very proud of our people and what we have accomplished during some challenging times, and I look forward to this exciting new chapter in Sun Country’s history.”

Sun Country has more than 800 employees and flies to 38 year-round and seasonal destinations, in the U.S., Mexico, Caribbean and Europe. The carrier’s all-Boeing fleet consists of 12 modern and fuel efficient 737 Next Generation aircraft.

No changes to Sun Country’s operations, management team or frequent-flyer program are planned. Sun Country’s headquarters will continue to be located in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Sun Country Airlines Receives Travel+Leisure’s Top Ten Domestic Airlines Award for 2011

Sun Country is Hot Doggin’ It to the West Coast

Today Sun Country Airlines launched their "Hot Doggin' it to the West Coast" promotion for the month of July to celebrate America’s birthday. The Hometown Airline will be serving passengers free hot dogs, chips and beer* on all evening flights to and from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. In conjunction with the St. Paul Saints promotion for National Hot Dog Day, Sun Country will also be giving away tickets to Saints baseball games on select flights.

Sun Country Announces New Service to Costa Rica

Sun Country Airlines today announced new international service between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Liberia, Costa Rica. The new service will be the only non-stop flight from Minnesota to Liberia. The new flights will operate weekly from January 13 through April 13, 2012 departing from and returning to the Twin Cities on Fridays. Sun Country Airlines Summer Schedule Announcing New & Returning Service

St. Paul, MN—April 1, 2011—Today, Sun Country Airlines celebrated their inaugural flight to Washington Reagan National Airport that departed from Terminal 2- Humphrey at 6:00am. This morning’s flight commenced the new service to Washington D.C. now flying six times a week through April 30, 2011 and daily beginning May 1, 2011. The round trip flights will originate in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN with an intermediate stop at the Capital Region International Airport in Lansing, MI before continuing onto Washington, D.C.

Sun Country Inaugurates New Service to London-Gatwick Airline Giving Away Trip-A-Day to London*

St. Paul, MN - May 23, 2011

Sun Country Airlines will celebrate their inaugural flight to London-Gatwick, departing out of Terminal 2 – Hubert Humphrey - on Friday, May 27, 2011. Sun Country’s new London service will operate weekly from May 27 - September 5, 2011 departing the Twin Cities on Friday afternoons and landing at London’s Gatwick airport on Saturday mornings. The return flights will depart London Sunday mornings and arrive back in Minneapolis on Sunday afternoons. The 15 week seasonal service will operate with an intermediate stop in Gander, Newfoundland. Sun Country is offering both First Class and coach seating on its Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the transatlantic service.

Sun Country will host a “Royal Countdown” to the inaugural London-Gatwick flight, giving away a trip-a-day to London May 23 – May 26, 2011. Consumers can now register for the contest on Sun Country Airlines’ Facebook™ fan page. Four winners will receive a free trip* for 2 to London departing on the inaugural flight, Friday, May 27, 2011 and returning either Sunday, May 29 or Sunday, June 5, 2011.

Sun Country Airlines Awarded Rights to Serve Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

St. Paul, MN—December 10, 2010

Sun Country Airlines today announced that they have been selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation to serve Washington National Airport from Lansing, Michigan. The daily round trip flight will originate in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and stop in Lansing before continuing onto Washington, D.C. Flight times and dates will be announced in the near future.

“This is a great addition to Sun Country’s schedule,” said Stan Gadek, president and CEO of Sun Country Airlines. “We would like to thank the congressional delegations of both Michigan and Minnesota, especially Senators Stabenow, Klobuchar and Franken as well as Congressman James Oberstar, for their support. We would also like to thank Michigan State University and the Capital Region International Airport for partnering with Sun Country to make this award possible.”

Sun Country will offer daily service featuring modern, fuel efficient, Boeing 737 aircraft with both First Class and Coach service from Terminal 2/Humphrey in Minneapolis/St. Paul to Washington National Airport. “This service will provide a great benefit to customers in both Minnesota and Michigan by providing a competitive low fare alternative,” continued Gadek.

Sun Country will commence service December 22, 2010 to Orlando, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Cancun and Montego Bay from the Capital Region International Airport.

In addition the Airline recently announced twice weekly service from Minneapolis/St. Paul to London Gatwick Airport commencing May 27, 2011 and operating through September 4, 2011.

For the price of a single ticket on other airlines, Sun Country travelers can use the Fall Free For All pass and have access to any coach-class seat available with no blackout dates.

Sun Country Airlines Ranked in Travel+Leisure’s World’s Best Service Awards List of Top Domestic Airlines

St. Paul, MN, July 9, 2010

Sun Country Airlines announced today that it has placed within the top ten domestic airlines in Travel+Leisure’s 2010 World’s Best Service Awards. The awards are based on a readers’ survey that ranks travel companies based on personal service and attention.

Sun Country Airlines announced today plans for new non-stop domestic and international service from Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport. Beginning December 22, 2010, the Airline will inaugurate domestic service to Las Vegas, Ft. Myers and Orlando as well as international service to Cancun, Mexico and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Flight schedules are as follows:

Lansing to Cancun, Mexico

Flights will depart Lansing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:15am and arrive in Cancun at 10:00am (all times local). Return service will operate on the same days at 10:55am for a 3:30pm arrival back in Lansing. Friday service begins December 31; all other days begin December 22, 2010.

Lansing to Montego Bay, Jamaica

Beginning December 26, 2010, flights to Montego Bay will depart Lansing each Sunday at 7:00am and arrive at 10:55am. Return service will operate on the same days at 11:50am for a 3:50pm arrival back in Lansing.

Lansing to Orlando

Each Wednesday and Saturday, flights to Orlando will depart Lansing at 4:25pm and arrive at 6:55pm. Return service will operate on the same days at 7:40pm for a 10:15pm arrival back in Lansing.

Between December 28, 2010 and January 4 as well as February 22 and April 5, 2011, Sun Country will also operate Tuesday service between the two cities with flights departing Lansing at 8:40am and arriving in Orlando at 11:10am and return service departing at 11:55am for a 2:30pm arrival.

Lansing to Ft. Myers

Service between Lansing and Ft. Myers will operate 3-4 days a week during the winter and spring. Thursday service will depart Lansing at 8:00am and arrive in Ft. Myers at 10:45am, returning at 11:30am for a 2:15pm landing in Lansing.

On Mondays and Fridays, flights will depart Lansing at 4:30pm and arrive in Ft. Myers at 7:15pm. Flights will depart Ft. Meyer at 8:00pm and arrive back in Lansing at 10:45pm. During peak travel periods, a Tuesday roundtrip will be offered at the same times.

Lansing to Las Vegas

Sun Country will operate two weekly roundtrips between these cities with service on Thursdays and Sundays. Thursday’s roundtrip will depart Lansing at 3:00pm, arrive in Las Vegas at 4:05pm and return at 5:00pm to arrive back in Lansing at 11:30pm.

Sunday service to Las Vegas will depart Lansing at 4:50pm and arrive at 5:55pm. Service between Las Vegas and Lansing will depart at 6:40pm and arrive in Lansing at 1:10am on Mondays.

Sun Country Airlines Begins Atlantic and Pacific Flights

St. Paul, MN- July 02, 2010

Sun Country Airlines today announced its successful first flights to London, England and Honolulu, Hawaii from the U.S. Mainland operating Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Sun Country operated the flights in scheduled and charter service utilizing procedures and equipment specifically designated for Extended-range Twin-engine Operations Performance (ETOPs).

Sun Country flew its first trans-Atlantic trip in scheduled service from Minneapolis/St. Paul to London’s Stansted airport on June 11th. The one-stop seasonal service will operate weekly through August 15th between the Twin Cities and London. On Tuesday, June 22nd, Sun Country conducted its first trans-Pacific flight in charter service from Phoenix to Honolulu. Touching down in Hawaii the crew were greeted with a traditional gift of Hawaiian Leis welcoming Sun Country to our 50th state.
