Hometown Lakes Project
If we could recite the 10,000 reasons we love Minnesota, we would (but we have traveling to do!). That’s why we welcomed the Hometown Lakes Project with open wings, with the goal to strengthen our ties in our community and inspired people to visit Minnesota or remember why they call our beautiful state home.
Starting this spring, we will name each plane in our fleet after the glittering lakes of Minnesota. Every aircraft will feature custom lake-themed art, representative of lakes that span the entire state. We commissioned Minneapolis-based and nationally renowned artist Mark Herman to create custom illustrations for each and every plane. Herman is an award-winning commercial graphic artist, designer, illustrator, and owner of Numeric Press Limited. His work explores vintage graphic styles depicting landmarks and other notable moments, people, and places from all around Minnesota. His passion for the project and adoration for exploration has created a beautiful series of work – a hometown favorite we’re happy to take to the skies.
The names of each lake will be featured on the exterior of the aircraft, under either side of the cockpit, as well as outside the front boarding door. The art will be featured in the interior of every aircraft.
Our community has supported us throughout our 34 years of history and has contributed to who we are today – Minnesota’s Hometown Airline™. This is for you.
Merchandise featuring the Hometown Lakes Project collection of Mark Herman artwork is available in the Sun Country Store.
Enjoy our salute to Minnesota and share your lake memories with us and our hometown on social media with #HometownLakesProject.
