Cancun, Riviera Maya & Isla Mujeres, Mexico

Cancun

What started out as small fishing village, Cancun is one of Mexico’s first planned vacation destinations and is now the most popular vacation destination in Mexico. Cancun owes its popularity to spectacular weather, a plethora of superb shopping and dazzling nightlife, and a host of beautiful beachfront resorts. Some cater to families, some to adults only, and many are all-inclusive resorts.

Riviera Maya

Located south of Cancun, spanning a total of 70 miles, and comprised of several towns and areas, it’s hard to summarize the Riviera Maya. But, if you are looking for some of the best beaches in Mexico, all-inclusive resorts that leave you wanting for nothing, charming villages for a bit of shopping, and being close to Mayan ruins and natural wonders, then the Riviera Maya is your ticket to a fabulous vacation.

Isla Mujeres

Just a short and picturesque 25-minute ferry ride away from the vacation mecca of Cancun, is the small and quiet island of Isla Mujeres. Life here moves at a much slower pace, and the Manchones Reef is just offshore — perfect for beginner and advance scuba divers.

Flights to Cancun/Riviera are year-round via Minneapolis/St. Paul and seasonal, offered April - December via Dallas Ft. Worth (dates may vary).

Why Go To Cancun, Riviera Maya & Isla Mujeres

Cancun and the Riviera Maya, while both are served by the same airport and have great beaches and weather — as well as fabulous resorts — each area has its own personality, offering a different Cancun or Riviera Maya vacation experience. Cancun is known for its nightlife, restaurants, and out-of-resort experiences, while the Riviera Maya is more widely known for a laid-back lifestyle at predominately all-inclusive resorts. Each destination is glorious in its own way and offers excellent vacation deals, so you can’t go wrong in either destination. Plus, with the frequency of flights on Sun Country Airlines and the proximity of resorts to the Cancun airport, going away for a short vacation or long weekend is easy and a perfect way to fit a vacation to Mexico into your life.
