International Travel Information
Traveling outside the U.S. on Sun Country Airlines is always a pleasant journey, whether you're bound for the Caribbean, Costa Rica, or headed to Mexico. Here are some important things to know before you go.
Passports
All passengers traveling to international destinations (including U.S. and Canadian citizens) must have a valid passport.
Your passport is the primary document for international travel and must be kept in good condition. Sun Country Airlines may deny boarding if a passport is damaged beyond normal wear and tear and/or there is evidence of intentional or material alterations or mutilations.
To ensure your travel plans are not interrupted, please make sure your passport is in good condition before you leave.

The U.S. Department of State recommends that passports be valid for at least six months after the expected return date.

For additional information, please visit the U.S. Department of State website.
Foreign citizens
Foreign citizens always need valid passports, and in many cases visas to travel abroad. Non-U.S. residents also need proof of return or onward flights out of the U.S. when entering the United States. Foreign citizens who are permanent U.S. residents will need to present their authorization to reside in U.S. (e.g. green card, refugee card, etc.). Please visit dhs.gov or travel.state.gov for current information on specific requirements for entry into the U.S. It is the responsibility of the traveler to provide proper documentation to prevent detention, inconvenience, or being denied boarding.
Mexican citizens traveling to the US need both of the following:
- Mexican Citizens including children traveling to the U.S. must have a valid passport, visa (if required), and tickets/documents for a return or onward flight out of the U.S.
- Mexican Citizens including children traveling to Mexico must have a valid passport.
China National Citizens:
As of November 29, 2016, all citizens and nationals of the People’s Republic of China who have a B1/B2 10-year visa and are either living in or visiting the U.S., are required to have an advanced enrollment via EVUS (Electronic Visa Update System) prior to traveling to or from the U.S. Learn more about the EVUS program or enroll here.
