Passengers requiring extra seat space are encouraged to purchase a ticket for an adjacent seat in advance of travel. Any passenger who cannot comfortably fit in one seat with both armrests in the down position are required to secure an additional seat. If the plane is full, passengers who do not purchase an additional ticket in advance of travel will be rebooked on the next available flight.
The width between armrests is considered the boundary between seats and typically measures 16 inches for standard seats. A seat belt extension is available to any passenger who requires one; however, a seat belt extension is not a viable substitution if a passenger cannot travel comfortably with both armrests in the down position.
If we have open seats on the flight and can accommodate an additional seat without moving or unseating another passenger, a refund may be requested. Refunds are processed once travel is complete and can be requested by contacting Customer Care. The Sun Country Customers of Size policy does not violate the Americans with Disability Act or the Air Carrier Access Act (part 382).

Why would a customer of size purchase an additional seat if they may get a complimentary second seat at the airport?
Purchasing a second adjacent seat in advance of travel guarantees passengers of size are comfortable and have adequate seating. It also serves as a notification to us of a special seating need and allows us to adequately plan for our aircraft inventory. Most importantly, it ensures that all customers onboard have access to safe and comfortable seating.

How much does it cost to purchase an additional seat?
The cost of the additional seat is the lowest available fare at the time of original purchase. If we cannot determine the original ticket price due to a group/bulk fare, or if the passenger is traveling on a free ticket, we will offer the lowest available fare at the time of booking. Note that seat fees apply only to the ticketed passenger. Seat fees do not apply for the additional adjacent seat.
Can anyone purchase an additional seat?
The option to purchase an additional seat is available only to those individuals who require this service based on our seat dimensions. The purchase of an additional adjacent seat is required for anyone who cannot comfortably travel with both armrests in the down position.
What if an additional seat is not purchased in advance of travel?
When an additional seat is not purchased in advance of travel and is not available on the flight for which the customer is confirmed, he or she will be required to rebook on the next available flight. Sun Country will waive penalties or fees that may otherwise apply to this change.
