Payment, Changes, & Cancellation Policies

To ensure that you understand the conditions of your purchase, please read the following terms and conditions completely.

General Terms & Conditions

All flight and hotel taxes and fees required to be listed by the U.S. government ARE INCLUDED (Federal Excise taxes, Passenger Facility Charges, September 11th Security Fees, any applicable International Air Transportation Taxes, and other U.S. and foreign user, inspection, security, or other similarly based charges, fees, or taxes), as well as fuel surcharges, if applicable.   • All prices quoted are per person, in U.S. dollars, and will only be guaranteed upon receipt of payment.
  • Prices are not retroactive.
  • Prices are subject to change without notice.
  • Prices do not include items such as the following: Passport and visa fees as required by destination country, some foreign departure taxes, etc.
  • By purchasing, you agree to receive e-mails related to your trip with Sun Country.
  • Ufly Rewards account number must be applied to your booking prior to departure in order to earn points.
  • Once payment is applied, applicable cancellation and/or change fees will be assessed, some may be non-refundable.
  • Taxes and fees may fluctuate due to changes in regulations and policies.

Payment, Cancellation & Change Policies

  • Reservations are nonrefundable but are changeable, less applicable per person change fees (unless otherwise specified or if Travel Protection Plan is purchased; coverage varies).
  • No credits or price adjustments are made if the price changes after the reservation has been purchased.
  • Any changes or modifications to reservations must be made by calling Reservations at 800-359-6786.

Cancellation Rules

Airfares and any additional components (including car rental, paid seat assignments and baggage) are non-refundable, but may be changed prior to the scheduled departure date less applicable change fees, unless otherwise specified.

  • Customers that cancel after the scheduled departure date and time forfeit the value of the no-show segment/package components.
  • Car rentals are non-refundable and non-changeable within 24 hours prior to flight departure.

Change Fees
(applies to any changes made to a booking)

$50: Travel within the U.S. 50 

$100: Travel to/from Mexico, Costa Rica, the Caribbean (including Puerto Rico and St. Thomas)

  • If the price of the new airfare is lower, the difference is given in the form of a voucher.  
  • Any increase in airfare is the responsibility of the customer at the time of change.
  • Adding a client to a booking, and/or converting from a flight-only booking to a flight and hotel vacation package booking will not require a change fee

(Travelers on the initial flight-only booking will retain the original airfare; travelers added to the booking or converting to a package will receive the airfare associated with the new package at the time of the addition.)

Name Changes $15 per traveler per change

 

  • At the time of change or cancellation, customers will be given a voucher for the amount of their ticket/package less the applicable change fees.
  • Vouchers are good for one year from the date of voucher issuance.
  • Change fees are cumulative when a change is made to a name and an itinerary.
  • Travelers who use Ufly Rewards points for their purchase will receive refunds in the form of a voucher. Standard change fees will apply.
  • Sun Country Airlines will allow a customer to cancel a flight-only reservation made directly with Sun Country Airlines reservations staff or on our website without penalty for up to 24 hours from the time of making the initial reservation provided the reservation is made seven or more days prior to a flight’s departure. This applies to regular published airfares and does not include Sun Country Vacation package bookings or group and tour bookings or land products or any other non-air product or activity.

Flight & Hotel Packages - Coach & First Class

24- and 48-Hour Holds
  • Bookings made 46 or more days prior to departure can be placed on a 48-hour hold. Bookings made 8-45 days prior to departure can be placed on a 24-hour hold (holds are not allowed on bookings made seven or fewer days prior to departure). Placing a booking on hold guarantees the price and inventory if payment is applied to the booking within the applicable 24 or 48 hours of when the booking was made.
  • Bookings that do not have payment applied to them within the applicable 24 or 48 hours will automatically cancel.
  • If the package contains a non-refundable hotel, the booking must be paid in full at the time of booking and cannot be placed on hold.

If the package contains a non-refundable hotel, the booking must be paid in full at the time of booking. The booking will not be eligible for deposit.

*At 45 days prior to departure for travelers booking directly with Sun Country, the remaining balance will automatically be charged to the credit card used to make the deposit. For reservations made through a travel agent, the agent will work with their client when final payment is due.

Departure/Arrival Taxes & Fees

Included in the price of your Sun Country purchase:

Travel Within the U.S.A.

  • September 11th Security fee of $5.60 each way, per U.S. enplanement.
  • Airport facility charges (PFCs) of up to $9 one way or $18 round-trip.
  • U.S. government segment tax of $4 on each flight segment, defined as one takeoff and one landing.
  • For travel to and from Alaska: Federal excise tax of 3.05% plus $8.90, for travel to and from Minneapolis/St. Paul; Federal excise tax from other cities is slightly higher.

International Travel

  • September 11th Security fee of $5.60 each way, per U.S. enplanement.
  • Airport facility charges (PFCs) of up to $9 one way or $18 round-trip.
  • U.S. government departure tax of $17.70 one way or $35.40 roundtrip (effective for tickets purchased and ticketed on or after January 1, 2016, the departure tax increased to $17.80 one way or $35.60 roundtrip).
  • Other government taxes and fees (including U.S. government taxes) of up to $100 based on destination; total may vary slightly based upon currency exchange rate at time of purchase.

 

NOT included in the price of your Sun Country purchase:

Costa Rica

  • Costa Rica Airport Departure Tax: $29 per person (including children and infants) to be paid directly at Costa Rica airport upon departure in U.S. dollars or local currency, or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express accepted). Credit card payments will be processed as a cash advance and may be subject to additional fees. Please check with your bank for details. Checks are NOT accepted.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

  • Dominican Republic Tourist Card Tax: $10 U.S. dollars per person (including children and infants):
    1. To be paid in U.S. dollars upon arrival at the Punta Cana airport. Credit cards, checks, or any other currency are NOT accepted.
    2. Pre-payable online with credit card at: dgii.gov.do/Tturistaweb
  • Dominican Republic Stay Tax: Payable in U.S. dollars at the airport for stays over 30 days; amount starts at $21 and depends on length of stay. Credit cards or checks are NOT accepted.

Vacation Package Purchases

Some hotels/resorts may charge a mandatory resort fee that is collected by the hotel/resort during your stay.

Passenger Identification & Policies

  • Domestic Travel: All passengers 18 years of age or older are required to present one form of government-issued photo ID (such as a valid driver’s license) or two forms of non-photo identification, one of which must be state or federal agency-issued (such as a U.S. Social Security card), before boarding a flight. Failure to present positive identification can result in denied boarding and no refunds will be granted.
  • Proof of Citizenship: To enter or return from a foreign country, all passengers are required to present appropriate documentation. Each country, including the USA, has different requirements and these requirements are subject to change at any time. It is the passengers’ responsibility to have the correct documentation. All adults, minors and infants must have a valid passport for international travel.
  • Foreign citizens may need visas to travel to/from the U.S. Non-U.S. residents also need proof of return flight or onward flights out of the U.S. upon entering.
  • Sun Country Airlines does not permit travelers who are not U.S. citizens or legal residents to travel on a one-way ticket into the United States.
  • Sun Country is not responsible for failure to present proper documentation. Incorrect documentation could result in denied entry and forfeiture of all monies paid.

Air Transportation

FAA regulations require that a separate seat be purchased for a child two years of age or older. There is no charge for lap-held children under the age of two.

  • Birth certificates may be required at check-in as proof of age.
  • Passengers 15 years of age or older may legally hold a child in their lap.
  • Only one child under the age of two years old per passenger is allowed.

Sun Country Airlines has specific carry-on and checked baggage allowances. It is the passenger’s responsibility to comply with those allowances, or excess/overweight baggage charges may apply and will be collected at the ticket counter of the departing airport. Learn More

Car Rental Terms & Conditions 

When purchased with a Sun Country flight or flight and hotel package, all Payment, Cancellation, and Change Policies as noted above apply, in addition to:

  • Each rental day is based on one 24-hour rental period beginning at the time you pick up your car.
  • The main driver must have a valid driver’s license held for at least one year and be at least 25 years of age on the date the trip originates. Other age restrictions may vary by car rental company.
  • Charges not included at the time of booking include: Collision Damage Waiver, Personal Accident Insurance, Theft Protection, other rental coverages, gasoline, applicable taxes for optional services, airport service charges, additional driver charges, and drop-off charges.
  • Upon delivery of your car, the primary driver will be required to present their credit card to cover the insurance deductible. NOTE: Debit cards are not accepted.
  • There are no refunds on unused services nor may they be applied to any portion of the rental to charges for gasoline, insurance, or damages.
  • Car rentals are non-refundable and non-changeable within 24 hours prior to flight departure.

Flight and Hotel Terms & Conditions 

Specific to flight and hotel packages purchased directly with Sun Country, all Payment, Cancellation, and Change Policies as noted above apply, in addition to:

  • All Sun Country vacations packages require flights on Sun Country Airlines and a hotel stay.
  • Prices may not include porterage, gratuities, resort fees or energy surcharges.
  • Sun Country does not permit minors (passengers under the age of 18) to travel without being accompanied by an adult on flight and hotel packages to/from any destination.
  • Sun Country is not responsible for personal injury or property damage caused by any act or omission by the hotel or other suppliers of any of the services being offered in connection with this trip. In no event shall Sun Country be liable for consequential damages.
  • Sun Country reserves the right to substitute accommodations due to circumstances beyond our control.
  • Sun Country does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to luggage or any belongings while in the custody of any hotel or bus/transfer company.
  • Sun Country reserves the right to vary package inclusions, itineraries, options, and hotels if necessary.
  • Some changes (including name changes and corrections) made to confirmed hotel, car rental or activity bookings may require the component to be rebooked at the current available rate.
  • Purchases of specific hotels, activities, transfers and travel insurance may be non-refundable.
  • Sun Country cannot guarantee fulfillment of special arrangements or requests, such as adjoining rooms, bed configurations, or non-smoking room requests.
  • Minimum check-in ages may vary between hotels. Please see the individual hotel profile for details.
  • Valid identification will be required to check in.
  • Hotel may require a credit card imprint or cash deposit upon check-in for incidentals, resort fees and/or security deposit, which are the responsibility of the guest.
  • Disability accessibility varies widely between hotels in international destinations; although listed as handicap accessible it may not be ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant. Accessible rooms are on a request-only basis, based on availability.
